Take a look at these videos, and tell me how they change, or complicate your view of intelligence.  Also, if you have any questions, concerns, or thoughts about another concept, or the "the concept essay" write them here.

  1. The Origin of Intelligence video made me question how intelligence comes to us. Could individuals really be gifted at birth, having intelligence formed in their DNA? or could intelligence have been created by a God or higher power? Looking at the video what is Multiply Intelligence Theory I agree with Howard Gardner that people view intelligence as having a high IQ level, but rarely do they notice that others could be skilled and knowledgeable about other matters. Howard stated that people could be good at one thing, average at another. I believe that to be true, we all have different talents and apply knowledge as well understanding in different situations. I view intelligence as something to be gained on our own ambition. Being able to experiment as well having the will and desire to learn. More importantly process new things.

  2. all 3 videos had some good point i mean the first video i thought had some good points on intelligence that people are more intelligent on somethings and average on others.the second video had me wondering is intelligence form in DNA before we are born or does it come from a higher power, it could be from higher power because isn't god our creator so does he create the DNA that makes us intelligent.i think that we are born in intelligent and that we can only gain more intelligence and obviously we are more intelligent in one thing than another.gaining knowledge depends on whether we want to or not. you have to experiment fail and try again to intelligence on that certain thing.

  3. I found the second video to be very interesting , It changed how i think a little about intelligence because i never thought of the theory if god is the creator and he created intelligence then there needs to be someone more intelligent to create him and believing other wise you are negating your initial belief in a way , i believe that god has nothing to do with our intelligence i believe we learn intelligence by living life and experiencing new things everyday , leave someone locked up in a cellar for 20 years hes gonna be dumb as a rock because he hasn't learned anything in there.

  4. I found all three videos to be interesting they have all touched a point of intelligence .They have talked about DNA had formed before we have been born, God is the creator and he has created or thought of intelligance. I believe that we as human beings and intelligent through knowlege . We become more in dept as we get older and become more wiser as we study about our history and life.

  5. Video#1: I Did not change my view on intelligence but I agreed that intelligence could not be measured as it prevusly was.

Video#2: The video Changed my view on intelligents because I believe intelligence would have come from an adaptation of something in space, like an element. I didn't think about gods and who came bfore god because I am not too religous.

Video#3: I Changed my view of intelligence by making me thing down to a more complex level of tought. I understood the dots and lines but I looked at intelligence in a diffrent manner to understand it better.

  6. All three videos make very good points about the concept of intelligence. Howard Gardena makes a good point when he said ‘people can be good in one thing and average on another’. This is assertion to me is true because I believe everybody is different and unique in his or her own way. Though intelligence is usually viewed as having high IQ levels, the videos demonstrates that it goes beyond higher IQ levels to include the ability or capacity to solve problems and being able to make distinctions between the natural world. The second video is very interesting in the sense that it associate intelligence with DNA or some high God or power. I believe that to be true because we all born of different genes and have different human characteristics. God gave us intelligence, and we also acquire intelligence through our ambition, and life experiences.

  7. Video 1: I found video one to be very correct in the fact that a person can be good at something and terrible at something else. And we are not all go at the same things so we cant judge a person on how smart they are by testing them in one subject because they could be a person who is bad at math but brilliant at English. Someone could be very smart in school and have no common sense or street smarts. Every person is different and good at their own different things.

Video 2: This video was interesting and it surprised me that bacteria are considered intelligent because they can “learn” through natural selection. But I would have to agree that intelligence has to come from a central nervous system because to me intelligence comes from thinking and using your brain.

Video 3: This particular video was interesting to me because I had heard the story of the late student (who solved an impossible math problem) in my math class when I was in high school. My teacher has told my class the story maybe to tell us that we could be like that kid, and not even know we have the capacity to solve a so called impossible problem. Our brains work in funny ways and we could be so smart and not even know it. This is because we could have been tested in the wrong manner our whole lives in school. The tests in school measure your ability to memorize information, and maybe we were not good at memorization but we are still very smart.
