Questions On Rhetorical Strategy And Style
#3.This ending changes the tone of the essay by in the beginning it gives examples of big name popular vehicles such as the Range rover,Explorer,Expedition, and how these vechicles are making an impact on sales as well on how people are purchasing them. But towards the ending the essay compares the type of vehicles driven to society levels.High societys are described as ambitious, the downtown frontiersman. The working and lower classes where compared to the little people.Mainly referring that these expensive cars could only be seen and purchased by the high class.Stateing that its the high society that has the money and want these cars for appearance to either make a statement of social level and that they have money.

  2. QUEST#2 MEANING: Women are buying bigger vehicles stated in the article" it says 40 percent of all SUV sales are to women, and the sales are increasing. The owners are afraid of collisions and accidents. According to The Hidden Life of SUV'S female drivers confessed they hesitated even to exit the interstate" because they are afraid of what they are going to find on some surface streets".

OUEST#3 RHETORICAL: The ending changes the tone of the essay because in the beginning they explain different vehicles that are driven. For example blazer ,Yukon, Navigator ,Tahoe ,Range Rover, Explorer have impacted sales and how they are purchasing the vehicle. At the end of the short story they compare and contrast the vehicles and who uses what depending on the class. Higher class buy expansive vehicles , while lower class drives small vehicle's.

  3. Quest #1 Meaning: Most American car dealers give adventure names to SUV's because they use the name as a appeal to customers. They come up with these names by studying focus groups to see what more appealing to them.

Quest #2 Rhetorical: The effect this has on the reader is that, it makes them become more interested in the story.

  4. Q#2 meaning: Women buy these vehicles because they want to feel safe. Just like when they look for a man they need someone that will make them feel safe and protected. In the case of the car they want to feel protected from injury or death that may be caused by an accident.

Q#3 Rhetorical Strategy and Style: The essay states that the cars appeal to those who fear the under classmen. The rich do fear us but for more than just the obvious reasons. The media portrays people of not such wealthy background as criminals and hooligans. people that are rich want to feel safe from us so they buy big trucks and SUV's that are built to stop us from stealing and hurting them. This changes the tone by adding a little bit of darkness to the whole essay. It shows the other side of the coin as all informative articles usually so and should.

  6. Questions On Meaning
#2 I believe a lot of people who are afraid of whats out there buy big vehicles, they think these SUV`s will save your life. People may think that this vehicle keeps you safely separated from the outside life that includes all the crazies.
    Rhetorical Strategy & Style
#3 Definitely changes the note because it goes from talking about the names of SUV`s and migrates to talking about what kind of people are targeted for these big tanks on the streets and how these people are categorized in society.

  7. Question On Meaning
#2 According to the passage the majority of the people who buy these cars are women. In the united states, Sport utility vehicles are now becoming women’s car and the population is now growing. Infact 40 percent of all SUV sales are to women and the proportion is now growing. Women buy SUV’S and prefer it to other cars because they feel safe and secured. In an accident SUV’S have barriers on the outside that protects the driver and everyone on board from serious injuries and fatalities. It also serves as a safe means of transportation. Indeed in an age of gated communities the SUV is the perfect transportation shelter to protect us from fears both real and imagined’.

    Rhetorical Strategy & Style
#1 The author uses exaggerated language to grab the readers attention to the size and cost of SUV’S ‘less than 7 feet tall and less than 20 feet wide is an example of exaggerations. The writer uses these to describe the SUV’S size and capacity. Eventhough the SUV is big in size, these illustrations make it too big to the reader. These exaggerations are used to grab the readers attention and to persuade him or her into reading more to see what the essay entails.

  8. Question on meaning
#2 In the passage, it states how that majority of all SUV buyers is mostly made up of women. This is because most women feel alittle more safer in a more intimidating and high up vehicle. If an accident did occur, you can count on a safer outcome because of the depth and mass of the SUV.It is bulit alot more stabler then a common car found on the road or a sports car. In our community it is alot safer for all to drive a SUV instead of a sports car.

#3 The ending changes the entire tone/vibe of the essay because it jumps around in the point the author is trying to make. It speaks about the titles of the cars to the underclasses. In my own opinion i think rich people buy SUV's so that they feel safer when driving around with underclasses with not so much nicer cars. The rich have a sense of thinking "the bigger, the better" and so a nice big SUV is the way to go in our society today.
